Perkasie Women Hear Cancer Talk

 

PERKASIE – Dr. Albert Schatz, director of research at the National Agricultural College, was guest speaker at the February meeting of the Woman's Club of Perkasie, yesterday afternoon in the Perkasle Legion Home.

Dr. Schatz used as his topic, "What You Should Know About Cancer" and told the members of his experimentations on microbes and cancerous growth.

Special Session Held

A special children's session, under the direction of Mrs. Lloyd A. Hoagey, Sellersville music teacher, was conducted. The group of 25 preschool pupils went through various phases of teaching rhythm, notes, songs, clapping of hands and footwork. The familiar nursery rhymes as well as original compositions were suxg by the tots.

Mrs. James Oglen, vice president obligated the following new members: Mrs. Ellsworth Henderson, Mrs. Robert Berger and Mrs. Bernace Moyer.

Donations for the month included $40 for household furnishings at Thompson-Neeley, Bowman's Hill; $10 for the restoration of Independence Hall and $20 for the March of Dimes.

Party Slated

Mrs. Herbert Cole, chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, reminded members of the fashion show and card party to be held Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 8 p.m., in the Perkasie Legion Home.

Mrs. Walter Herstine and Mrs. John H. Gulick served as hostesses. Mrs. Donald B. Smith served as chairman of the tea table committee. The committee also Included Mrs. Earl S. Lutz, Mrs. John E. Roberts Sr., Mrs. Edward Keller, Mrs. Ellsworth A. Grove, Miss Adeline Frederici, Mrs. Glenn Moyer and Mrs. Harrison H. Landis.
